Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of COVID test is used in the pooled testing?
A: A PCR nasal swab is used in the pooled testing.
Q: How are pooled groups identified? By classroom? By cohort?
A: By classroom, in most cases. Some classrooms may be combined if the numbers are low (not to exceed 25 total). The groups are logged by the testing coordinators according to the database sheet.
Q: If a batch comes back with a positive result (or more than one), what is the process to identify individuals who tested positive?
A: The emailed communication comes to a designated administrator's email, with immediate notification to the school principal. The school will notify parents in that pool that their children will be antigen tested on that day. (Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday)
Q: Can the rest of the participants in the batch attend school as the identification/narrowing process unfolds?
A: Yes.
Q: What is the expected timing?
A: Under 48 hours.
Q: How does follow up testing occur in the event of a positive result in the batch?
A: Rapid antigen testing at the school.
Q: What is the protocol for siblings?
A: Unvaccinated – quarantine for 10 days, or 7 days with negative COVID test results from a test done between day 3-5.
Q: Will all testing occur outside?
A: Currently, all testing is scheduled to occur outdoors under tented locations.
Q: Who will supervise swabbing?
A: Testing coordinators (nurses/medically trained staff).
Q: Will swabbing assistance be available? If so, from whom?
A: Children will be guided in swabbing, but will not be assisted.
