Our Buzz Aldrin Mission Statement:
We believe that all children can learn, achieve, and grow in a safe and secure environment.

Congratulations to the Buzz Aldrin Class of 2021! Thank you to the many staff members who came together to organize the Moving Up Ceremony on Tuesday morning (starting at 6 am!). I cannot say enough to express my gratitude to 8th Grade Advisors Stephanie Drozd and Jamie Scala. Year after year, they remain 100% devoted to ensuring a celebratory send-off to our kids. The hours they spent planning and preparing for graduation and awards activities is greatly appreciated. To our teachers, our counselors, paraprofessionals, and to our AV tech extraordinaire, Brian Lacivita, to Cheryl Cottle and Judy Lehmann, our secretaries, and Nurse Eva McGorry, thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and your devotion to our school. You are all exceptionally enthusiastic---and we thank you for your time and “above and beyond” effort. Thank you to Ms. Nisha Gandhi for around-the-clock assistance throughout the entire graduation process, and many thanks to Mr. Major Jennings for being our special guest at this year’s ceremony. Last, but certainly not least, thank you to our security aides and custodians, including the awesome Buildings and Grounds crew, for making sure our graduation ceremony ran smoothly.
Here is a link to a recording of our 8th grade graduation. Please view in full screen.

Tonight is the PTA sponsored 8th grade party, from 5:00-7:00pm, outdoors at Buzz. All Buzz Aldrin 8th graders are invited to attend. Several messages have been sent home with details. See mandatory permission slip here.

• We distributed yearbooks today to 8th grade Bulldogs/All Days students who reserved a copy. Tonight, at the 8th grade party, the Mounties in attendance will receive their yearbooks. The rest will be distributed next week. Thank you to Jessica Eden-Mintz and the Yearbook Club for their hard work this year. It was challenging to create a yearbook during virtual learning, but you did it! Awesome job!

MFEE’s Toast to the Kids: This past year ,we have honored the first responders, the teachers, the countless people who kept working and kept our world going. But, what about the kids? Let's kickoff the summer with a party for them...about them...with them! A Toast to the Kids! While our seniors are celebrating their graduation, The Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence (MFEE) invites the rest of our school community to party at Nishuane Park on the last day of school - June 24th from 2- 4pm. There will be music, snacks, community, and joy! Bring a blanket and bring a friend. School spiritwear encouraged. All are welcome! RSVP strongly encouraged. Suggested family donation $5. 100% of proceeds boost classroom innovation by funding MFEE’s Educational Excellence grants!

Beauty & The Beast~The Musical
We want to recognize the cast, crew and set design/set painting students of this year’s musical, “Beauty & The Beast,” for their tireless work both remotely, and most recently, in person. Some of the cast members have been working on the show that shut down just 3 weeks before the curtain call March 2020. This school year, some cast members have been double-cast, some play many different roles, some are new to theater at Buzz, and many are our new 6th graders! All of them have stepped up with confidence and resiliency to do whatever is needed to let the show go on. Unfortunately, we are limited in our audience capacity and will not be able to open the show to the entire school community as in years past. We are allowing each cast / crew member two guests at each performance. It was a difficult decision to make, but we did it with the health and safety of our community in mind.Wishing our Beauty & The Beast cast a wonderful performance next week. BREAK A LEG ALL!

Summer reading for children, teens, and adults is back! To register and start logging on June 21, go to Children and teens will log by days read, while adults will log by books read. Anyone who logs their reading will be eligible for our prize drawings through the summer. Preregistration is now open!

I’d like to thank the generous Buzz Aldrin PTA for my beautiful gift, presented by students at graduation. The travel bag is the perfect size and I love the color, sleek design, and everything about it. The book, Destinations of a Lifetime, is the perfect accompaniment and lists 225 of the world’s most amazing places to visit. I am hoping to get to a few of those places some day! This is really the most thoughtful, generous gift from the Buzz community and I am deeply grateful. Thank you all.
